Within us resides the compass that guides our perspective, decisions, responses, and reactions to life’s twists and turns. It is here that we find the source of our anxieties, joys, and everything in between. Our perception of the world is shaped by the lens through which we view it from within.
Passion: The Business of the Human Brain
Feeling lost is a common human experience, but the beauty of it lies in the fact that even when we’re lost, we can always find our way back. Every individual needs a passion or hobby—a sanctuary for the soul.
In our conscious state, we are constantly evaluating the world around us. There’s also a subconscious state that operates in autopilot mode. And then, there’s the elusive state of ‘flow’—the ‘zen mode.’
In the ‘zen mode,’ we become so engrossed in something that the outside world fades away. The incessant chatter in our minds, self-doubts, confusion, and chaos all fall silent. It’s a profound connection with our inner selves, achieved when we engage in something that fuels our creativity and passion.
Discovering Your Inner Self
There are three types of people:
- Those who know their passion and fully embrace it.
- Those who are aware of their passion but are entangled in other obligations.
- Those who aren’t sure about their passion.
The first type, often referred to as the ‘sorted’ ones, have varying degrees of self-awareness. The second type represents the majority, and they can find solace and balance by dedicating more time to their hobbies, aligning themselves with their core passions. This therapeutic practice can help solve numerous real-life problems.
The third type is unique. These individuals are drawn to a multitude of interests and sometimes view it as a drawback. However, as they unlock their potential, they open themselves up to diverse experiences in different domains. They possess the superpower to immerse themselves deeply in anything that excites them.
To do good and be good, we must first feel good. Maintaining a childlike spirit and following our hearts pay off immensely in our overall well-being. So, find time for a hobby—a sanctuary where your passions flourish.
